‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff ‘The Madison’ Gets Exciting Update: When Will It Release?

The cast for The Madison continues to grow. Four more actors have joined the hotly-anticipated Yellowstone spinoff series, with one of the new additions already familiar with the franchise.

According to Variety, Kevin Zegers (The Rookie: Feds), Rebecca Spence (Lady in the Lake), Alaina Pollack (The Surrender) and Danielle Vasinova (The Bay) are the latest additions to The Madison cast, joining the previously announced Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Ben Schnetzer, and Amiah Miller. Vasinova may not be familiar yet to the Yellowstone fandom, but the actor has already wrapped a role in one of the franchise’s other spinoffs, 1923 Season 2. For obvious reasons, Vasinova will not be reprising her 1923 role in the present-day-set The Madison; instead portraying Kestrel, “an indigenous woman married to a Montana rancher who lives with her family on a double-wide trailer on their ranch.”

Character details for the rest of the new cast members have also been shared, with Zegers tapped to play Cade, described as “Stacy’s (Pfeiffer) new neighbor, asked to look out for the place until the family showed up.” Pollack will play Macy, “Abigail’s (Garrett) youngest daughter, who also grew up in a wealthy New York City family,” while Spence will play Stacy’s friend, Liliana Weeks, “a fellow member of the New York City elite.”

What Is the Latest Yellowstone Spinoff About?

Originally developed under the working title 2024, the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff is described as “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” Pfeiffer leads the ensemble cast of The Madison as wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn, with Chapman and Garrett playing her two daughters, Paige and Abigail, respectively. Miller will portray Abigail’s eldest daughter, while Adams has been cast as Paige’s husband. Production is currently underway on The Madison.

Yellowstone S5 Beth Rip

While The Madison was initially expected to be more connected to Yellowstone, the forthcoming spinoff has seemingly evolved into a largely standalone expansion of the fan-favorite neo-Western franchise. Luckily for fans, Sheridan is also in early development on a spinoff that will be more closely tied to the mothership series. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser recently closed deals to reprise their respective roles from Yellowstone as fan-favorite couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in the new spinoff series, which, unlike the other franchise extensions, will carry Yellowstone in the title.

Hauser recently alluded to the spinoff, which hasn’t been officially confirmed by Paramount Network, while speaking with People, stating, “We will see what happens over the next year or so and we’ll see what’s next. Hopefully, we can continue to get in people’s living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years. For me, to be able to do that, to educate people, enlighten and entertain them is always the dream.”

The Madison — which is separate from Paramount’s in-the-works Beth-and-Rip spinoff — is “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana,” according to the official logline. The series is currently in production and expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
